India's largest telecom company is Jio. The telecom operator recently created history by launching 4G and 5G networks in Siachen Glacier. It is known as the highest and most challenging battlefield in the world. Jio has touched an important milestone as the first telecom operator to offer high-speed mobile connectivity there.
In collaboration with the Indian Army, Reliance Jio has successfully deployed a 5G base station in this remote area. Mukesh Ambani's company considers it a valuable gift for army personnel ahead of Army Day on January 15. It is reported that with the help of army signallers, Jio has been able to establish mobile connectivity in these difficult and inaccessible places, which is considered to be literally a remarkable achievement.
Jio, using indigenous 5G technology, has deployed plug-and-play pre-configured devices at a forward post in the Siachen Glacier. The Indian Army has assisted them in this work. Its project reportedly included several training sessions, system pre-configuration and thorough testing.
The Indian Army played an important role in this supply management. They have helped transport GEO's equipment, especially in the challenging terrain of the Siachen Glacier. It is reported that the link has been established at a height of 16,000 feet in the Karakoram range. The region is known for its extreme temperatures, which can drop as low as -50 degrees Celsius. The company hopes that the network will enhance the capabilities of the country's armed forces to secure India's borders in the tough conditions faced with communication problems.
