Jio gains over 3 million subscribers in a month, while Vodafone’s situation is in shambles: new report

Using a mobile means you have to use some company’s connection or SIM for the network. Otherwise, no matter what price you buy the phone from, it will remain virtually unusable. In that case, while BSNL and later Hutch, Airtel, Idea companies used to connect mobile networks, today there are three major telecom companies in India – Reliance Jio, Vodafone Idea or Vi and Bharti Airtel. Among these, Jio and Airtel are leading in terms of number of subscribers. Both companies continue to grow in user numbers, but Vi’s subscribers continue to decline. Vodafone has actually lagged behind in terms of service delivery over the years; Most of them expressed various dissatisfactions against this organization. Moreover, they haven’t launched 5G services yet, leaving Vi in a corner in the market. TRAI has recently published a report on this subject, which provides clear information about the state of the Indian telecom market as of May.

Jio network has the largest number of users

Ever since its entry into the Indian telecom market in 2016, Jio has been turning the public’s attention towards itself. They are ahead in many ways compared to other telecom companies. In that regard, recent reports say that Reliance Jio has added the maximum number of subscribers in the month of May. During this period, 30,38,036 people joined Jio, increasing the company’s user base to over 43 crore.

Airtel also added 13,28,581 subscribers during this period, taking the company’s user base to over 37 crore. But while the other two private telcos turned a profit, Vodafone Idea lost a large number of customers in May. As per TRAI’s report, 28,15,226 customers have disconnected from this company. It should be noted that Jio and Airtel have covered most of the country with 5G network. In this regard, there are speculations that Vodafone may launch 5G services in metro cities by the end of this year.

The number of broadband customers has also increased

TRAI’s report revealed that the number of broadband subscribers in the country increased by 0.69% in May compared to April. While the number of subscribers was 850.94 million in April, it reached 856.81 million during the month. In this regard, the number of wired or wired subscribers has increased by 1.69% and telephone subscribers by 0.65%. However, in the wireline segment, the number of subscribers fell by 0.07% in May compared to April 2023 – the figure stood at 29.36 million from 29.39 million in April. It has been observed that urban and rural users account for 92.55% and 7.45% of the total number of wireline subscribers respectively.
