Mahindra-owned Classic Legends was launched in India by Britain's iconic motorcycle brand, BSA, on Independence Day. A 650 cc bike named Gold Star 650 has arrived as the company's first model in the country. Experts claim that it will challenge Royal Enfield's 650 cc motorcycle. Is that true? Let's take a look at the features of the BSA Gold Star 650.

Retro design

The BSA Gold Star 650 comes with a vintage design like a bike of yesteryear. The round headlights, large fuel tank, flat single piece seat, long fenders, and a host of chrome elements evoke the nostalgia of retro motorcycles. Better to say, it's old-school in every sense.

Largest single cylinder

While the Pratiksha has more cylinders, BSA has opted for a 652 cc, single cylinder, liquid cooled engine for this bike. This powertrain produces 45 bhp of power at 6,500 rpm and 55 Nm of torque at 4,000 rpm. However, having a five-speed gearbox is disappointing. The Gold Star is claimed to reach a top speed of 160 km/h at 650 kmph.

Basic features

Apart from the design, the features of the BSA Gold Star 650 are also common. There are not many modern features. The company has dual channel ABS for safety. Besides, semi-digital instrument cluster, and USB charging port will be found in this bike.

Basic hardware

Built using the BSA Gold Star 650 cradle frame. Suspension is present with telescopic forks at the front and twin rear shock absorbers at the rear. The bike will ride on 17/18 inch wheels with spokes. There are single disc brakes on both sides.

Aggressive pricing

The Gold Star 650 Insignia Red and Highland Green colors are priced at Rs 2.99 lakh. On the other hand, buying Midnight Black and Dawn Silver color options will cost 3.12 lakhs. And the most expensive Shadow Black paint scheme is priced at Rs 3.15 lakh. In comparison, the rival Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 model is priced at Rs 3.03 lakh. Remember, these are all ex-showroom prices.
