In May, the first five companies to sell electric cars were revealed. At the top is Tata Motors. The names of the second and fourth ranked companies will surprise.
Firstly there is no fuel consumption and secondly the environment is better as there is no smoke. Due to these two reasons, sales of electric vehicles are increasing at a significant rate in India. Looking at the demand in the market, manufacturers are hoping to bring new models. Apart from Tata Motors, Mahindra, Hyundai, various companies are selling electric cars in India. But in terms of popularity do you know which organization tops? The report lists the top five electric car manufacturers in terms of sales in May.
Tata Motors
Currently, Tata is leading the world of electric passenger cars in India. The company's portfolio includes four electric models – Tiago EV, Tigor EV, Punch EV and Nexon EV. The company has plans to launch more models in the future. Last month, Tata managed to sell a total of 5,083 electric vehicles.
MG Motor India
The cheapest electric car currently sold in India is the MG Comet EV. The company also has the MG ZS EV in its Indian portfolio. In May, 2024, the company sold a total of 1,441 units of the EV model.
Mahindra
Mahindra is the third best selling brand in terms of electric car sales. There is currently only one model in the company's EV lineup. This is the Mahindra XUV400. Mahindra sold 564 models of the car in the previous month. It should be noted that they have recently announced plans to bring electric versions of Bolero and Scorpio.
BYD India
Despite being a Chinese company, BYD is the fourth largest company in the electric car market in India. In India they offer competitive electric vehicles. That list includes Atto 3, E6 and Seal. Last month 163 units of both cars were sold.
Hyundai Motor India
Fifth in the list is Hyundai Motor India. In India they sell two electric cars – the Kona EV and the Ioniq 5. They have plans to launch several more models in the future. In May 2024, the company managed to sell 96 units of electric vehicles.
