BMW Motorrad has started preparations for the launch of their much awaited adventure motorcycle, the F 900 GS in India. The German automobile brand has started releasing teasers on social media channels hinting at the launch soon. The BMW F 900 GS will replace the F 850 GS model in various countries including India.
Let it be known that BMW launched the R 1300 GS in India a few months ago. The response of the bike is very good. As a result, the company is coming up with the new F 900 GS to meet the needs of bikers in the middleweight adventure segment. The overall styling of the motorcycle is slightly toned down. The long front bumper has been removed and a forward windscreen has been installed. The rugged look comes from the sub frame being exposed.
The company's engineers added more power to the BMW F 900 GS model. The parallel twin will produce 105 bhp of power at 8500 rpm and 93 Nm of torque at 6750 rpm from that engine. Changes have also been made to the engine mapping for the power bump. Talking about the features, this bike will get TFT instrument cluster, LED lights, keyless ignition, traction control, and multiple riding modes.
The biggest change to the BMW F 900 GS is in weight. About 15 kg lighter than the outgoing model. The footpegs are lowered slightly and the handlebars are placed closer to the rider. As a result the bike will become more friendly in off-road conditions. It may be launched in India by September. Prices are likely to start from Rs 13 lakh (ex-showroom).
