If you keep more than 9 SIM cards, the penalty is Rs 2 lakh
The Telecommunications Act 2023 came into effect from June 26. As per DOT rules, a person can withdraw only 9 SIMs from Aadhaar. In this case, if you do not obey this rule for the first time, you will have to pay a fine of Tk 50,000 and if you have more than 9 SIM cards even after being warned, you will have to pay a fine of Tk 2 lakh.
50 lakhs fine and 3 years jail for taking wrong SIM
Also, if you buy a SIM card wrongly, you can be fined up to 50 lakh rupees and jailed for up to three years. In such a situation it is very important for you to know how many SIMs are linked with your Aadhaar.
How to check how many mobile numbers are registered with your Aadhaar
1) To check how many SIMs are linked with your Aadhaar, you need to visit the government launched portal, Sancharsathi.gov.in.
2) Now tap or click on mobile connection option.
3) Now enter your contact number.
4) After that you will get OTP on your registered mobile number.
4) Then, all the mobile numbers linked with your Aadhaar number will be visible on the website.
5) Where you can report and block numbers that you are not using or no longer need.
