Hero Motocorp is planning to launch a new electric scooter in the current financial year. The country's largest two-wheeler company is reportedly about to launch a new e-scooter at an affordable price. Hero CEO Niranjan Gupta, while releasing the annual report for 2023-24, presented the company's shareholders with a roadmap to accelerate the growth of the electric vehicle business.
Hero Motocorp is bringing cheap electric scooters
Hero is optimistic about the launch of its electric vehicle in the international market as well. Gupta said, they want to build a powerful EV portfolio to increase market share. To that end, a low-cost model will be introduced as well as a mid-range electric scooter. But the affordable electric scooter model will come first.
Incidentally, in the past few months, well-known companies have also launched e-scooters at relatively low prices to capture the market. For example – Bajaj and Ether Energy. In 2022, Hero MotoCorp's journey into the EV world began with the Vida sub-brand. Currently their Vida model is available in two variants – Pro and Plus. The company has not said anything about whether Hero will bring a completely new model or Vidar will launch a new variant.
Right now, Ola S1X is the cheapest electric scooter among the leading brands. Again this year the cheapest versions of Bajaj Chetak and TVS iCube have been launched. Since then the sales of both companies have grown by leaps and bounds. Therefore, Hero Motocorp is going to launch a new electric scooty to further increase its business.
