Good news for WhatsApp users, chat transfer will be done by scanning QR code, see how

Recently WhatsApp launched a new feature. Through which users can transfer all chats from old phone to new phone in a very quick way using QR code. And if users switch to a new phone with the same operating system, they can transfer their WhatsApp data by scanning the new QR code using Wi-Fi.

How will WhatsApp users use this new method?

WhatsApp users must first ensure that both phones are switched on and connected to the same Wi-Fi network in order to chat or transfer data. Then first open WhatsApp on the old device and go to the ‘Settings’ option, go there and click on the ‘Chat’ option and then select the ‘Chat Transfer’ option. After following these steps you will be prompted to scan a QR code from the new phone to complete the chat transfer process. And once the QR code is scanned, your WhatsApp chats will be transferred from the old device to the new device.

Notably, WhatsApp has said that transferring data through the new QR code scan feature is more secure than using third-party applications. Third party applications lack some privacy.

Note that earlier WhatsApp used cloud backup for backup. But the new feature will eliminate the need to backup chats to the cloud. However, it is better to keep a regular data backup, as using this method can transfer large media files and attachments quickly.

Incidentally, WhatsApp introduced iPhone (iOS) to Android and Android to iOS data migration features a few months back, and in both cases, apart from scanning the QR code, some additional procedures are required to transfer data.
