Garmin Fenix 6 Pro, Garmin Instinct Solar launched with solar-charging technology

Garmin Fenix 6 Pro and Garmin Instinct Solar smartwatches have been launched in India with solar-charging technology. The smartwatches are said to utilize solar energy to support features such as heart rate monitoring, sleep monitoring, stress tracking, health statistics, and more. The Garmin Instinct Solar comes in Graphite, Tidal Blue, Orchid, Sunburst, and Flame Red color options while The Garmin Fenix 6 Pro Solar comes in black and cobalt blue variant.

Garmin Fenix 6 Pro Solar features the Garmin Power Glass solar charging lens. The company confirmed that it has designed a one-of-a-kind solar panel in the entire world. The Glass is made up of an ultra-thin multilayer structure which allows continuous solar charging even though when the panel is partially covered. The power glass surely extends the battery life of the smartwatch in all modes in the Power Manager feature.

This series of smartwatches are claimed to track mountain biking and indoor climbing. It is claimed to deliver up to 14 days battery backup indoors, and up to 16 days of backup with sufficient solar exposure. Power Manager mode allows users to manage battery performance on the wearable.

Garmin Instinct Solar features

Garmin Instinct Solar has a Power Manager feature which allows users to get unlimited battery life in the Battery Saver mode. There is a new feature called Pulse Ox (SpO2) tracker that measures blood oxygen saturation. It also supports Pulse Ox (SpO2) tracker that measures blood oxygen saturation, The company claims that this feature helps to monitor and alert the user if there is a drop in blood oxygen level even due to the COVID-19 virus.

The company also said that it can last up to 24 days in smartwatch mode indoors and more than 50 days with ample solar exposure. The smartwatch also includes the support of the Body Battery feature that analyses the user heart rate variability, stress level, sleep quality, and activity data to determine overall energy levels.


Garmin Instinct Solar is priced at Rs. 42,090, the Instinct Solar Graphite Camo costs Rs. 47,490, and the Instinct Solar Lichen Camo can be purchased at Rs. 47,490. Garmin Fenix black variant is priced at Rs.89,990, and the cobalt blue variant carries a price tag of Rs. 99,990.
