Xiaomi launched the Xiaomi 14 Ultra smartphone powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset in February this year. The Xiaomi 15 Ultra device is expected to hit the market early next year. And now a reliable tipster claims to have accessed a primary engineering prototype of an “Ultra”-branded phone powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chipset. It is believed that this phone is probably the Xiaomi 15 Ultra.
Xiaomi 15 Ultra camera details revealed
Tipster Digital Chat Station reported in its recent Weibo (Chinese microblogging site) post that the Xiaomi 15 Ultra handset will also have a large circular camera module like its predecessor, but the camera system has undergone significant changes. The quad-camera setup now includes dual telephoto lenses and a significantly larger periscope lens.
Also, the 50-megapixel primary sensor is said to be larger than its predecessor, suggesting an increased sensor size or larger aperture. Note that the Xiaomi 14 Ultra phone has a 1-inch 50-megapixel Sony LYT-900 primary camera sensor. The tipster speculates that the size of the new sensor could exceed 1 inch, indicating a possible improvement in camera performance. The tipster did not mention anything about any other specifications of the Xiaomi 15 Ultra phone in his latest post.
According to recent reports, the Xiaomi 15 Ultra model will have a micro-curved design on all four sides of the display. It will support 2K resolution and come with an ultrasonic in-screen fingerprint sensor. It is expected to run on Android 15 based HyperOS 2.0 custom skin. One of the rear cameras could be a 200-megapixel Samsung HP9 Periscope telephoto sensor with 4x optical zoom support.
As for performance, the Xiaomi 15 Ultra handset will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chipset, paired with 24GB of RAM and may house a battery of around 6,200 mAh capacity. According to reports, the engineering prototype of the device has three distinct builds, namely – plain leather, fiberglass and ceramic.
