The oldest Android skin for smartphones is Xiaomi’s MIUI. It has been used by Xiaomi since 2010. The quality of this once great software has been slowly declining over the past few years, especially for budget phones. But due to growing sales, MIUI’s monthly active users recently crossed 600 million (60 crore).
That means more than 50 crore customers rely on this mobile software every day. The next version of MIUI was supposed to be MIUI 14.5. But now a report says that Xiaomi will launch MIUI 15 based on Android 14 directly without revealing this version.
Xiaomi is canceling MIUI 14.5
According to reports from XiaomiUI, Xiaomi is focusing on developing their major release MIUI 15 instead of MIUI 14.5. The company is said to be working on adapting Android 14 for MIUI 15. That is, the devices that will receive the MIUI 15 update in the future will also get an upgrade to Android 14.
However, it is speculated that MIUI 15 builds based on Android 13 may also be rolled out later. Because Xiaomi provides new MIUI version based on previous generation Android platform for older smartphones. The new features will be known in the coming days after the new software is in testing phase. Until then there is no choice but to wait.
