Xiaomi has not forgotten! The company is also giving new HyperOS update to 4 year old phones

Late last year, Xiaomi bid farewell to its long-standing MIUI software, introducing the new HyperOS user interface. Gradually the company is updating their various models to HyperOS. Xiaomi recently announced which devices will receive the HyperOS update in the second quarter of this year. And now the company has confirmed that the older Mi 10 and Mi 11 series smartphones are also going to get HyperOS by mid-April. The director of the software division of the company himself confirmed this.

HyperOS update coming to Mi 10 and Mi 11 series

Xiaomi’s director of software department Zhang Guoquan answered questions from his followers on Weibo (a Chinese microblogging website) and said that users of the Mi 10 and Mi 11 lineup of smartphones will get the HyperOS update in mid-April. However, the HyperOS update for Mi 10 and Mi 11 series may not include Android 14, as HyperOS for older phones is based on the previous Android 13 OS.

Released in December last year, Hyper OS combines the Android Open Source Project (AOSP) with Xiaomi’s own VelaOS, resulting in a complete rewrite of the underlying architecture. This new system points to Xiaomi’s efforts to unify the software experience across its product lines. It brings MIUI, Vela, Mina and even their car OS under one roof.

Please note that HyperOS is being rolled out in different batches for different Xiaomi devices. The first batch included factory-installed phones like the Xiaomi 14 series and Redmi K70 series, followed by updates to the flagship Xiaomi 13 series, Redmi K60 series and Xiaomi Pad series tabs.

The second batch, which ran from January to June this year, included a variety of Xiaomi and Redmi phones and tablets. Such as high-end flagships, Xiaomi 12S series and MIX Fold phones along with popular mid-rangers like Redmi K50 and Redmi Note series. Mi 10 series users (including Mi 10S, Mi 10 Pro and Mi 10 Supreme Memorial Edition) will finally join the HyperOS party in mid-April alongside the Mi 11 series.

Note that the update schedule has been extended to June, as many Xiaomi devices are yet to receive the HyperOS update. These include the Redmi K60E, various Redmi Note 11 and 12 models and the Redmi Pad series. Xiaomi users who haven’t received the update yet are eagerly waiting for the official announcement regarding the HyperOS update on their particular device.
