Xiaomi has regained lost ground. They are leaving behind the popular smartphone band Apple. According to a report by Counterpoint Research, Xiaomi became the second largest smartphone brand in the world last August. And Apple has dropped to the third place. However, Samsung is still the world's first smartphone brand.

Apple fell behind in the smartphone market

According to the Counterpoint Research report, Xiaomi overtook Apple in terms of smartphone sales in August. Earlier in 2021, the Chinese brand became the second smartphone brand after Apple for the first time. However, after a few days, Apple returned to its place. Note that in the last three years, Samsung, Apple and Xiaomi are competing for the first, second and third place.

A graph shared by the research firm clearly shows that the Chinese brand's smartphone sales rose sharply in August, overtaking Apple as a result. Although Apple recently launched the iPhone 16 series. If this series gets popular, Apple can regain its place again.
