Xiaomi is rumored to launch its new ‘Lite’ branded smartphone in the Indian market after 2021. The speculation has intensified since a new Xiaomi smartphone appeared on the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) certification website. It is believed that this certified device may be launched in the Indian market as Xiaomi 14 Lite.

Will Xiaomi bring back ‘Lite’ phones in India?

A Xiaomi phone with model number 24053PY09I has appeared on the Bureau of Indian Standards certification platform. It is said that the phone could come to the country as a rebranded version of the Xiaomi CV4 which is about to be launched in China. The CV series phone was recently spotted on China’s MIIT certification site with model number 24053PY09C. Notably, Xiaomi has so far limited the CV series to China only and they launch these devices in the global market with light branding. Now, it is expected that the new Xiaomi CV4 will arrive in India as the Xiaomi 14 Lite.

Incidentally, Xiaomi CV2 phone was launched last year as Xiaomi 13 Lite. However, it did not come to India. However, based on recent certifications, it is speculated that the CV4 may debut as the Xiaomi 14 Lite in global markets including India. If the Xiaomi 14 Lite is launched in India, it will mark the return of the Xiaomi Lite series to the Indian market after three years. The company launched Mi 11 Lite and Xiaomi 11 Lite NE 5G in 2021. Since then, the company has not added any more devices to this lineup.

Notably, the Xiaomi CIVI series of smartphones is mainly targeted at female consumers in China and falls under the lifestyle segment devices. The upcoming Xiaomi CIVI 4 is rumored to feature a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 processor, which is likely to be unveiled in China on March 18. The upcoming CIVI series handset is likely to feature a 5,000mAh battery unit with 90W fast charging support. The Xiaomi CIVI 4 model is rumored to offer an OLED display with 1.5K resolution and 120Hz refresh rate. The handset may feature a Leica-tuned camera setup.

Note that Xiaomi has not made any definite announcement about Xiaomi CIVI 4 yet. However, it is expected that the company will release the teaser within the next few weeks. The company recently launched its Xiaomi 14 series in India including the standard Xiaomi 14 and Xiaomi 14 Ultra.
