Vivo X Fold 3: Amazing features with amazing camera, Vivo launches world’s thinnest foldable smartphone

Vivo yesterday (March 26) launched its flagship X Fold series of third-generation smartphones in China. The Vivo X Fold 3 lineup includes standard and pro variants. Of these, the Vivo X Fold 3 Pro is the most premium. The specifications of the two phones are almost identical, but there are some differences. The Vivo X Fold 3 is the successor to last year’s X Fold 2. These foldables offer OLED displays, 50-megapixel OV50H primary sensors and Snapdragon 8 series processors. Let’s know the details of Vivo X Fold 3 and Vivo X Fold 3 Pro including price.

Vivo X Fold 3 Series Specifications and Features

Vivo X Fold 3 and X Fold 3 Pro have OLED displays. The cover screen size is 6.53 inches, with a resolution of 2,480 x 2,200 pixels. And inside there is an 8.03-inch inner display with a resolution of 2,748 x 1,172 pixels. Both screens offer LTPO technology with a 120 Hz refresh rate and a maximum brightness of 4,500 nits. The Vivo X Fold 3 Pro comes with an integrated ultra-sonic fingerprint scanner. On the other hand, the standard version has a side-mounted scanner.

In terms of design, the Vivo X Fold 3 series has a circular rear camera module. The standard variant is claimed to be the slimmest foldable phone ever. It measures just 4.65 millimeters when unfolded. It is lighter than the iPhone 15 Pro Max with a weight of 219 grams. Vivo says that the X Fold 3 series features a carbon-fiber lightweight hinge that is very durable. The foldable phone has received the first Swiss SGS (SGS) five-star drop-resistance certification for its armor glass. The Pro and Standard models come with IPX8 and IPX4 certified water-resistant chassis respectively.

For photography, the Vivo X Fold 3 series has triple rear cameras. Both the phone setups feature an optical image stabilization (OIS)-enabled 50-megapixel OV50H main sensor and a 50-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens. Besides, the standard model has a 50-megapixel portrait lens as the third camera, while the X Fold 3 Pro offers a 64-megapixel OIS periscope sensor with 3x optical zoom and 70mm focal length. For selfies and video calling, the Vivo X Fold 3 series houses a 32-megapixel camera inside a punch-hole cutout above the internal and external displays. Only the Pro model comes with the company’s self-developed V3 imaging chip.

For performance, the Vivo X Fold 3 Pro has Qualcomm’s latest flagship Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor, while the standard model uses the older Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset. Both the phones will get a maximum of 16GB of LPDDR5 RAM and up to 1TB of UFS 4.0 storage. For power backup, Vivo X Fold 3 comes with a large 5,50 mAh battery, which supports 80 W fast charging. On the other hand, the Fold 3 Pro packs a larger 5,700mAh cell, which supports 100W wired charging speed and 50W wireless charging.
