These three iPhones were left out of the list of Apple iOS 17 operating system update

Apple unveiled its much-anticipated mixed reality headset, Vision Pro, alongside the 15-inch MacBook Air powered by the new Apple M2 chipset at its World Wide Developers Conference 2023 (WWDC 2023). At the same time, the US tech company has shown a glimpse of its latest operating system, which it will release by September-October. The company also released a list of devices that will not receive the iOS 17 update. Let’s find out which models are included in that list.

Multiple phones excluded from Apple iOS 17 operating system

Apple is about to release the iOS 17 operating system for its iPhone series of handsets and has confirmed that the iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus and iPhone X will not get the new version of the software. Because the update requires the smartphone to be powered by the A12 Bionic chipset or its next generation processor.

Older smartphones eligible for iOS 17 include the iPhone XR, XS, XS Max, and iPhone SE (2nd generation). Similarly, those using the fifth-generation iPad or the first-generation 12.9-inch iPad Pro will not be able to install the new iPad OS 17.

Again with the new version of iOS 17, Apple is bringing features like live voicemail transcript, standby display mode and better autocorrect. Among the features that will be included in iOS 17 is the smart home lock screen, which can turn the iPhone into a “smart-home display” when not in use. It will show various information including calendar appointments, weather data, notifications. There are also contact posters that allow users to customize how their contacts are presented on other people’s phones.

Note that iOS 17 also brings Live Voicemail to transcribe voicemails in real-time. For security, there is the check-in feature, a feature that will automatically notify family and friends when users reach home safely. iOS 17 offers a new Journal app to source memories using people, places, activities, music and photos, which iPhone users can add to daily journal entries.
