Xiaomi’s Android flagship lineup of devices has started to carve out a different niche for itself in the field of smartphone photography. The company has done amazing work on cameras over the past few years, especially with their ‘Ultra’ models. But now it is heard that the camera of the upcoming Xiaomi 14 series non-ultra models will also see special improvements. A well-known and reliable Chinese tipster has leaked the camera details of the new Xiaomi 14 and Xiaomi 14 Pro on the internet, which points to the same. Xiaomi 14 and Xiaomi 14 Pro will get a new periscope camera

The tipster posted on digital chat station Weibo (a Chinese microblogging site) that the Xiaomi 14 and Xiaomi 14 Pro are going to get improved optical zoom capabilities. Both these smartphones will feature a Periscope camera setup, which is not seen in the current generation models. The standard Xiaomi 14’s camera sensor will offer up to 3.9x optical zoom and is said to have a 90mm focal length. Meanwhile, the Xiaomi 14 Pro will offer up to 5x optical zoom and have a 115mm focal length.

That is, users will be able to zoom further while taking photos without worrying about losing image quality. And, it’s going to be a nice upgrade over the 3.2x optical zoom and 75mm focal length available on the existing Xiaomi 13 and Xiaomi 13 Pro. However, the tipster in his post did not mention important information like the sensor type and resolution of the cameras of the upcoming Xiaomi 14 and 14 Pro.

Notably, Xiaomi 14 and Xiaomi 14 Pro have already been spotted on the IMEI database website. The standard variant is said to carry model numbers 23127PN0CC (Chinese) and 23127PN0CG (Global) and the Pro version 23116PN5BC (Chinese) and 23116PN5BG (Global). The letters ‘C’ and ‘G’ at the end of the model number indicate Chinese and global models respectively.

It is also rumored that two separate models of the Xiaomi 14 Pro will be launched with different display panels and charging speeds. One model will have a flat display with 2.5D glass and the other will feature a curved display with 3D glass. Their wired fast charging speeds will be 90W and 120W respectively.

Note that the Xiaomi 14 Pro is rumored to be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor. This is an upcoming flagship processor that will be used in most Android flagship phones next year The battery capacity of the phone will be 5,000mAh and it will support 50W wireless charging. The Xiaomi 14 series may enter the market by the end of this year.
