London-based start-up Nothing started teasing their upcoming Nothing Phone (2) during the Mobile World Congress 2023 (MWC 2023) event held last February. The company had earlier said that the next-generation smartphone would be launched later this year. However, in an interview with Forbes, Carl Pei confirmed that the Nothing Phone (2) launch event will take place next July. The phone will also be launched in India as indicated by the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) listing. Also, the micro-site reveals that the device will be available for sale on Flipkart. The handset has also been spotted on benchmarking site GeekBench. And now a new tweet from the company has revealed information about the phone’s display size, Android update.
Nothing Phone (2) specifications revealed
The Nothing Phone (2) has an SGS-certified carbon footprint of 53.45 kg, which is 5 kg less than its predecessor Phone (1). The company says that despite having a lower carbon footprint, it has managed to achieve a 200mAh increase in battery and a 0.15-inch increase in screen. Nothing has confirmed that the upcoming phone (2) will have a 6.7-inch AMOLED display. The display can support 120 Hz refresh rate.
Already, Carl Pei has revealed that the phone will have a battery capacity of 4,700 mAh. However, he did not comment on the fast charging capability. Likely, it will support 33W fast charging technology like its predecessor. Besides, the Nothing Phone (2) will be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 processor.
Again, the GeekBench listing of the Nothing Phone (2) confirmed that it will offer up to 12GB of RAM. According to the listing, its model number will be A065 and will run on Android 13 operating system. The smartphone scored 1,253 and 3,833 points in Geekbench’s single and multi-core tests. The new model of Nothing is likely to launch with 8GB/12GB RAM and 128GB/256GB storage variants.
Notably, Nothing will use a recycled aluminum mid-frame with the smartphone. The company will use recycled copper foil for the motherboard, tin for nine circuit boards, 90% recycled steel for 28 stamping parts. It will also offer plastic-free packaging, as Apple has done with the latest iPhones. The company also confirmed that the Nothing Phone (2) will receive three major Android updates and up to four years of security updates. The purpose of this extended update is to extend the usage period for customers.
