According to reports, Samsung will no longer launch any base model under the flagship series from now on.
The Samsung Galaxy S25 could be the last compact flagship smartphone in the S series
Samsung launches three models under the general S series, including a base model, a Plus model and an Ultra model. All these three variants use different size displays. However, Samsung has noticed that while the Plus and Ultra variants have been in demand over the past few years, the base model has not been selling well.
Especially the sales figures of Samsung Galaxy S24 series made the company think. Although the Galaxy S24 model of this series failed to win the hearts of buyers, the demand for Galaxy S24+ and Galaxy S24 Ultra is high. That's why tipster Ice Universe claims that Samsung is only looking to keep popular models to compete with the iPhone. Otherwise, the base model of the iPhone series is much ahead of the base model of Samsung.
If this tipster's claim is true then we will see only the Plus and Ultra models being launched under the Galaxy S26 series. However, if it does, the iPhone will no longer have any competition in the compact flagship smartphone segment. Although it is rumored that Oppo will bring a compact smartphone under the Find X8 series this year, it is doubtful that it will be able to compete with the iPhone 16.
