Samsung announced the good news that after the S24 series, these phones will get the benefit of AI features

Samsung has already confirmed that all phones receiving the One UI 6.1 update will not get the artificial intelligence (AI) features that come with the Galaxy S24 at the moment. Even Patrick Comet, head of the South Korean company’s consumer experience department, said the new AI features will be limited to flagship phones launched in 2023. Let’s find out which devices are going to get these advanced features.

AI feature is going to be added to Samsung flagships

Samsung said that the Samsung Galaxy S23 series (including S23 FE), Galaxy Z Fold 5, Z Flip 5 and Galaxy Tab S9 launched in February last year will get the company’s new AI features. It is believed that the company has decided to rollout these features on its smartphones first. The company has released an update for the Samsung On-Device Resources app on the Galaxy Store, the description of which mentions that new AI features will be used in it.

Notably, this app previously handled speech-to-text functionality for Bixby and the Samsung keyboard, now it provides the processing power for some of the Galaxy S24’s new AI features. For example, the app features real-time call translation and voice recording to text.

And now that the app is available on older flagships like the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy S23, it is believed that the One UI 6.1 update is coming soon. Whether Samsung will include these AI features directly in the One UI 6.1 update or release them separately remains to be seen.

However, the news is disappointing for those who want to access the new Galaxy AI features on the Samsung Galaxy S22 series or older Samsung flagship devices. The new Samsung On-Device Resource app update is only available on the mentioned models, which points to the Galaxy S22 series not getting access to AI features.
