Redmi is gearing up to launch its next flagship smartphone in the K60 series, the Redmi K60 Ultra, in the market very soon. Apart from this, the brand has also reportedly started working on the next-gen K70 lineup of devices. And now a popular tipster has claimed that the Redmi K70 will be launched with high-end hardware to make it a flagship killer. Let’s find out if the standard version of the popular K-series will get an upgrade.
The specifications of the Redmi K70 are leaked
The tipster in a post on digital chat station Weibo (a Chinese microblogging website) said that the base Redmi K70 model will be powered by Qualcomm’s most powerful Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor. This is the same chipset used in the Redmi K60 Pro model as well. However, this is not surprising as the K70’s predecessor, the Redmi K60, features a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 processor, which is an upgrade over the Dimension 8100 previously found in the base K50 model.
On the other hand, an earlier report claimed that the Redmi K70 Pro model will feature Qualcomm’s next-generation flagship chipset. This processor will probably be Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. The digital chat station also reported that the Redmi K70 and K70 Pro models will be launched in China later this year.
Note that the current generation K60 lineup was launched in December last year. So it is speculated that the upcoming series will be unveiled in December this year itself and the smartphones will likely go on sale early next year. The Redmi K70 series is expected to compete with other affordable flagship smartphones from brands like iQOO and Realme once it hits the market.
