Redmi has decided to launch the Redmi 12 with 4G support in the Indian market on August 1. However, some recent reports claim that the company is also working on a 5G version of the smartphone. Fueling the speculation, a new Redmi handset design render has surfaced courtesy of a reliable tipster, which is believed to be the Redmi 12 5G. The leak is the render of the Redmi 12 5G
Last month, Redmi unveiled the Redmi Note 12R smartphone with Qualcomm Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 chipset in the Chinese market. After the launch, tipster Kasper Skrajepek claimed that the Note 12R will be rebranded as the Redmi 12 5G for the global market. Also, the tipster says that the rebranded version of the Redmi Note 12R will be launched in India as the Poco M6 Pro 5G.
And now, tipster SnoopyTech has shared an image of the phone on Twitter, which reveals the design of the global version of the Redmi Note 12R, the Redmi 12 5G. The Sky Fantasy color variant of the Note 12R is identical to the phone shown in the renders.
Notably, the Redmi 12 5G with model number 23076RN8DY has already been approved by certification platforms such as Thailand’s National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC), Singapore’s IMDA and US’s Federal Communications Commission (FCC). Its Indian version with model number 23076RN4BI has also been approved by the country’s Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) authorities. Hence, the Redmi 12 5G is expected to launch in multiple countries within the next few weeks.
Redmi 12 5G: Specifications (Probable)
The Redmi 12 5G will feature a 6.79-inch FullHD+ LCD display, which will offer a 90Hz refresh rate and 20.5:9 aspect ratio. Powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 processor, the phone is expected to offer up to 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage.
For photography, the Redmi 12 5G may have a dual-camera unit comprising of a 50-megapixel primary camera and a 2-megapixel macro sensor. And a 5 megapixel front camera will be located in front of the phone. The phone will run on MIUI 14 software version based on Android 13. For power backup, the Redmi 12 5G is expected to come with a 5,000mAh battery, which will support 18W fast charging.
