After much speculation, Redmi has finally launched the Redmi 12 series in India. This lineup comes with – Redmi 12 4G and Redmi 12 5G. While the first one was available in the international market, the journey of the 5G version started with the Indian market. However, the Redmi 12 5G is not a new smartphone. It is available in China as Redmi Note 12R. Both models offer a FullHD+ display, a 50-megapixel primary camera and a 5,000mAh battery. However, the phones used different processors. Let’s take a closer look at the Redmi 12 series prices and all the specifications of the devices in the Indian market.
Redmi 12 series specifications
Both the Redmi 12 and Redmi 12 5G models have a similar design and build. They feature glass back panels and plastic frames. The specifications of both the phones are almost identical. The only major difference between the two is their chipset. These handsets come with a 6.79-inch display with a FullHD+ resolution of 2,460 x 1,080 pixels and a 90Hz refresh rate. The panel offers a peak brightness level of 550 nits. The 4G variant has a MediaTek Helio G88 processor. On the other hand, the 5G version uses Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 processor.
For photography, the back panel of the Redmi 12 series features a 50-megapixel primary camera and a 2-megapixel macro sensor. However, the 4G model’s camera system features an additional 8-megapixel ultra-wide camera. For selfies, both the phones have an 8-megapixel front camera
Also, the Redmi 12 series includes dual-band WiFi, Bluetooth 5.3, GNSS, a microSD card slot, a 3.5mm headphone jack, a side-mounted fingerprint sensor and an IR blaster. Both phones run MIUI 14 custom skin based on Android 13. Finally, for power backup, the Redmi 12 and Redmi 12 5G use a 5,000mAh battery with 18W fast charging support.

Redmi 12 4G and 5G have been launched in the Indian market in two and three memory variants respectively.

Redmi 12 5G:
4 GB RAM + 128 GB storage – Tk 11,999
6 GB RAM + 128 GB storage – Tk 13,499

Both the smartphones will be available for sale on Amazon India, Xiaomi official site and retail stores from August 4. They are available in three color options – Jade Black, Pastel Blue and Moonstone Silver.
