There is no room for denial, the flagship phones of various brands are almost identical in terms of specifications these days. Almost all flagships now feature the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, OLED display with 120 Hz refresh rate, super-fast charging, impressive camera setup. So many buyers are not as excited about the launch of the new flagship phone as before. The real innovation is now happening in the entry-level and mid-range markets. To stay ahead of the competition, manufacturers are bringing exclusive features to affordable phones in the $1,000 (roughly Rs. 83,350) price range. And now, Oppo is reportedly planning to offer premium phone-like IP68 certification and a curved display on a budget phone.
Oppo’s $150 smartphone will have the features of a $1,000 flagship phone
Tipster Digital Chat Station claims that Oppo is working on a new smartphone with IP68 certification. Which will come with curved screen and 5,000 mAh battery. The price point of the upcoming Oppo phone is particularly attractive, as the company aims to target the budget-friendly segment, priced below $150 (roughly Rs. 12,500).
However, not much information is available about this phone at the moment. The digital chat station has not revealed a launch date. However, IP68 certification indicates its imminent launch. In developing countries where the budget range is most in demand, the news of such features being added to cheap phones is really promising.
Note that some brands like Xiaomi currently offer attractive mid-range features in budget phones, but none of them have yet become quite affordable. Hopefully, Oppo’s move in this regard will encourage their other rival brands as well. Perhaps, expect to see better processors in budget-friendly Android phones soon.
