OnePlus is rumored to have started working on the next generation models of their S series. However, it is claimed that the company will name this lineup as OnePlus S5 after the OnePlus S3 series.
Chinese brands avoid the number “4” when naming their products. In many cultures in Asia, the use of the number is considered a negative sign. Now a tipster has shared some initial details about the upcoming OnePlus S5 series. He hinted that the company will eschew the “S4” branding for its sub-flagship phones Let's take a look at what the tipster has shared about the OnePlus S5 series.
OnePlus S5 and OnePlus S5 Pro are coming soon
According to the latest Weibo post by tipster Digital Chat Station, both the standard and Pro versions of the OnePlus S5 series will be released in China earlier than expected. The OnePlus S3 powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor was launched last January. Again in March OnePlus S3V powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Plus Gen 3 processor and in June OnePlus S3 Pro featuring Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 was unveiled.
According to reports, OnePlus may unveil the OnePlus S5 and OnePlus S5 Pro phones by the end of the year. The series will adopt a similar strategy to the OnePlus S3 series and will also feature a flagship chipset coupled with an ultra-large silicon battery. Besides, the design will also see a massive upgrade.
Currently, there is no information available about the OnePlus S5V, which is expected to be the most affordable model in the S5 lineup. Notably, a slightly modified version of the current generation OnePlus S3V phone was released as the OnePlus Nord 4 in markets like India and Europe. So the modified version of the OnePlus S5V phone may debut as the OnePlus Nord 5 in other markets.
Note that OnePlus S3 was rebranded as OnePlus 12R in the global market. That is, the OnePlus S5 handset may be rebranded as the OnePlus 13R in markets outside of China. Powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 processor, the OnePlus 13 model is expected to launch in China in October or November. On the other hand, OnePlus 13 and OnePlus 13R may enter the global market in January next year.
