Nothing Phone (2) Nothing’s foldable smartphone in practice before the launch, when will it be in the market?

Nowadays, when the talk of innovation in the smartphone industry comes up, the first thing that comes to mind is the foldable smartphone. However, the founder and CEO of the startup Nothing (Nothing) Carl Pei does not agree with this claim. In an exclusive interview with an all-India news agency, he elaborated on his views on foldable devices and whether he has any plans of his own to launch foldable devices under the Nothing brand in the future.

Nothing has any plans to launch a foldable smartphone right now

Carl Pei told India Today that they have no plans to release a foldable smartphone in the near future. His decision may surprise many tech lovers, as almost all brands have become more focused on launching foldable smartphones lately. Companies like Samsung, Huawei, Motorola, Tecno, Google and Xiaomi already have at least one foldable phone. Meanwhile, OnePlus is said to be working on the brand’s first foldable called the OnePlus Open. Judging from that perspective, Nothing decided to walk a completely different path.

According to Carl Pei, foldables are not a must-have product. He believes that foldable smartphones do not meet the real needs of consumers, but are an innovation that manufacturers have forced on ordinary consumers. In fact he does not think that this feature has any practical need. He also said that not every foldable smartphone leaves a unique impression. According to him, some manufacturers are doing it right, but if you look at their construction methods, you will see that every brand follows almost the same method. If the logo of the phone is not shown, it will be difficult for many to tell which brand it is.

In effect, these statements clarify what Carl Pei thinks about foldables, but of course it will also cause many to raise their eyebrows. There are many who see the glyph interface on Nothing’s smartphone as a gimmick. Even if a comparison is made between Nothing Phone (1) and Nothing Phone (2), there is no significant change in the design of the two devices. Regardless of which side is heavily weighted in this debate, one thing is certain that Nothing is launching a foldable smartphone in the near future.

Nothing’s latest smartphone is the Nothing Phone (2), which hit the market yesterday. It is a true-flagship device, as the company has opted for the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 flagship processor for it. It also features a 6.7-inch OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, up to 12GB of RAM, up to 512GB of storage, and a 4,700mAh battery with 45W wired fast charging and 15W wireless charging.

Notably, Nathing has announced the opening of its first exclusive service center in Bengaluru next month. The company plans to increase the number of service centers from 230 to 300 by the end of this month, which will be able to serve customers in over 19,000 pin codes in India.
