Not one, Apple is bringing two foldable iPhones, will beat Samsung

Although Android smartphone makers have already appeared in the market with foldable devices, Apple has yet to launch any such product. But there are whispers that the tech giant could soon come up with a foldable iPad. A foldable iPhone may also be announced later. According to a recent report by ‘The Information’, Tim Cook’s company is currently in the early stages of developing a foldable smartphone prototype. The report claims that these prototypes include two designs similar to the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip models.

The report also says that Apple is working on a foldable iPhone that will be very thin. That means it will be half as thick as existing models even when folded. This is mainly done so that the device doesn’t look bulky or difficult to handle after folding. The tech giant is also reportedly planning to add an outer display. However – some challenges related to positioning of components like battery and display have come up, which engineers are trying to solve.

Despite several challenges, Apple has reportedly approached component manufacturers in Asia to supply components needed to build a dual-screen foldable iPhone. But if the ordered components don’t work as planned by Apple, the whole project is likely to be scrapped.

On the other hand, foldable iPad development seems to be going very smoothly. Apple is reportedly currently working on an inward-folding iPad with an 8-inch screen.
