Samsung is expected to unveil the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5 foldable phones at their upcoming Galaxy Unpacked event, which is likely to be held in the last week of July. Although the South Korean brand is yet to confirm anything about the foldable smartphones, multiple reports have already surfaced about them. And now, a tipster has revealed that the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5 will offer improved IP ratings for water and dust resistance. This rating will further improve the water resistance of the handsets compared to its predecessors. Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Z Flip 4 have IPX8 rated builds. However, current models lack dust resistance.

Twitter tipster ‘No Name’ (@chunvn8888) claims that the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5 will have an IP58-rated build for dust and water resistance. If this information is true, it will be an upgrade from the IPX8 water resistance available on the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Z Flip 4. The current generation Galaxy Z series foldable phones are not dust resistant.

Let it be known that Google’s recently launched Pixel Fold smartphone has an IPX8 rated build. Meanwhile, the Motorola Razr 40 Ultra and Motorola Razr 40 also have a water-resistant IP52 (IP52) build. Samsung has confirmed today that the next Galaxy Unpacked event will be held in late July. This year it will be held in South Korea. While Samsung has yet to reveal which devices will be unveiled at the event, expect the curtain to be lifted on the new Z series of foldables.

Note that the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5 are likely to use the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset. They are expected to run on Android 13 based One UI 5.1.1 user interface. The Galaxy Z Flip 5 is said to pack a 3,700mAh battery with 25W charging support In terms of pricing, the Galaxy Z Fold 5 may be priced at $1,799 (roughly Rs. 1,47,000) in the US, while the Galaxy Z Flip 5 may be priced at $999 (roughly Rs. 82,400).
