Apple iPhone 15 series is going to enter the global market in a few months. It is expected that the new generation of iPhone will be revealed in September. And now it is known that Apple is also planning to launch rollable iPhone with special technology in a few years. Now fueling speculation, a rollable smartphone patent filed by Apple has surfaced, giving a glimpse of the tech giant’s future technology.
Apple will bring rollable display technology iPhone
Apple is going to launch a device with completely different technology very soon. According to a recently published patent, Apple is described in the process of creating a foldable iPhone. Literally, users can fill the smartphone display as desired. The patent was filed with the US Patent and Trademark Office in November last year and became public a few days ago.
According to the patent, the electronic device will have a rollable display that can bend around an axis, as it rotates on a roller. The display panel has a pixel array that produces images and the rollable part has a transparent protective layer with thin glass, which can be easily bent. It is possible to roll the display inside the device from the unrolled flat state.
Incidentally, Apple has been working on the concept of a device with a practically expandable display since 2014 and has filed several patents related to this concept. Now this latest patent application from Apple suggests that devices such as iPhones, iPads, televisions and even car dashboards could use this rollable/scrollable display technology in the future.
If the news turns out to be true, Apple could become a rival to smartphone makers who have been working on phones with rollable displays for a long time. Samsung, for example, has filed documentation for a similar technology with the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), which suggests screens that can be stretched upwards and sideways. On the other hand, TCL and Motorola are also working on such technology.
