Much tougher than a normal smartphone, the gaming phone excelled in the durability test

The Asus ROG Phone 8 series was launched in the global market last month. The Taiwanese company has ditched the heavy gaming-focused design from its previous generation of gaming smartphones. Looks like a normal mainstream phone. A popular tech YouTuber has now tested the durability of the Asus ROG Phone 8 Pro. Let’s find out the results of this durability test.

Durability test of Asus ROG Phone 8 Pro

The durability test by YouTuber Jack Nelson known as JerryRigEverything starts with a scratch test, where the Asus ROG Phone 8 Pro gets scratched at level 6 and goes up to level 7 to get deep scratches, which is common with almost every smartphone. The gaming phone is equipped with Gorilla Glass Victus 2. The Asus ROG Phone 8 Pro has a metal build and in the scratch test, the phone produced scratches on all sides. The device withstands the flame for 20 seconds, after which the pixels on the display turn white.

Coming to the core of the durability test, the YouTuber tried to bend the Asus ROG Phone 8 Pro backwards and forwards. Noticeable flex is visible when sufficient pressure is applied from the front. The curved glass rear panel also breaks completely due to back pressure. However, the phone is not completely broken like the previous generation ROG Phone 5 or 6. Overall, the Asus ROG Phone 8 Pro passed XRigEverything’s test. Jack Nelson also released a teardown video of the Asus ROG Phone 8 Pro, which reveals more details including its ROG LED lights, larger cooling system.
