Jio’s new venture, in collaboration with Qualcomm, is bringing 5G smartphones under 10,000 rupees

Recently Reliance Jio and Qualcomm are going to form a new partnership. Where the two companies will work to launch a new 5G smartphone, which will likely cost less than Rs 10,000. The move is believed to be taken to transition India from 2G to 5G. Besides, it will also allow the buyer to seamlessly upgrade to the latest technology. And the upcoming smartphone will also be powered by the latest Qualcomm chipset. Notably, Qualcomm acknowledged this partnership with Reliance Jio at the MWC 2024 event.

According to a report by Money Control, Jio and Qualcomm will offer 5G experience to users at an affordable price. In this regard, Chris Patrick, senior vice president and general manager of Qualcomm, said that the product will be developed specifically for the Indian market.

But by looking at the teaser, it is assumed that it will be able to run with Vikram even on difficult roads. The video shows the double cab body style, rugged looking front grille, and large wheeled tires for off-road use. The production version of the Mahindra Scorpio N pick-up truck is expected to hit the market in 2025. It is likely to come in both single and double cab body styles. It has petrol and diesel engine options as powertrain. Again the car can be chosen with two transmissions – manual and automatic. Mahindra will offer its pick-up truck in both two-wheel drive and four-wheel drive versions. However, whether the upcoming model will replace the Scorpio pick-up or be sold as a standalone model is not yet clear.

“We were inspired by India for this handset,” Chris Patrick told Moneycontrol in Barcelona. And for this product we are very focused on the transition between 4G and 5G. So we will try to make this transition very easy. And developers, telcos and new buyers can easily adopt it.’

Jio’s cheap 5G phone will have a new chipset, which will deliver great performance, Qualcomm executives said. Besides, users will enjoy appreciable download speed.

Qualcomm and Reliance Jio will also work closely with ecosystem partners and telecom carriers on this upcoming phone. As a result, this affordable 5G device will be a huge success.
