Apple launches its SE series of smartphones every two years for the middle-class buyers. The latest model i.e. iPhone SE 3 was launched in 2022. So it was thought that the US company will launch the budget friendly iPhone SE 4 this year. However, some sources have indicated that there may be some delay in coming to the market. As a result, the speculation does not stop. Now CAD renders of the upcoming iPhone have been leaked, clearly revealing the design. The iPhone SE features a significantly different design from previous models. The handset features a large notch display and USB-C port.
iPhone SE 4 design emerges from CAD renders
A report by 91Mobiles has shared design renders of the iPhone SE 4. Judging by the images, the most striking change in the upcoming phone is the larger 6.1-inch all-screen design with a notch instead of the 4.7-inch LCD display with a home button. The notch is expected to house the TrueDepth camera system, which will enable Face ID authentication for the first time on iPhone SE models. Its screen bezels are also noticeably slimmer, which is in line with current smartphone trends
Another big change is the presence of a USB-C port on the iPhone SE 4 model, which will replace the traditional Lightning port used on previous Apple devices. It complies with recent European Union regulations, which mandate the use of a universal USB-C charging port for all smartphones by 2024. Last year, the iPhone 15 series of phones included a USB-C port for the first time. Buyers can expect higher compatibility and faster charging capabilities from the new iPhone SE 4 phone.
The renders also indicated that the iPhone SE 4 will retain a single rear camera, just like its predecessor models. Although not clearly shown, it sounds like it will include an “action button,” which will likely be a customizable shortcut key. Dimensionally, the iPhone SE 4 is expected to be almost identical to the iPhone 14, measuring 147.7 x 71.5 x 7.7 millimeters. This information supports several previous reports, which also hinted at using the iPhone 14’s design as the basis for the SE model.
The iPhone SE 4 is expected to launch sometime next year. However, it could be introduced at Apple’s upcoming fall event alongside the iPhone 16 series. This design change for the upcoming SE phone suggests that Apple may be aiming to revive its affordable iPhone segment. With a larger display, Face ID and USB-C, the iPhone SE 4 could become an attractive option for users seeking a modern iPhone experience at a more accessible price point.
