The use of artificial intelligence (AI) in smartphones is increasing recently. Keeping in mind the needs of consumers, leading brands have focused on adding multiple AI-powered features to their various devices. Samsung Galaxy S24 series has entered the market a few days ago, whose AI features have become very popular among customers. Today, Oppo and its subsidiary, OnePlus, have announced the addition of a bunch of cutting-edge AI features to several of their smartphones. Those features are being rolled out to select models via a software update in time for Chinese New Year. ColorOS New Year Edition brings a bunch of AI features to Oppo and OnePlus phones
According to the brand’s Weibo (Chinese microblogging site) post, the new Android 14-based ColorOS update is set to add more than 100 new AI features to supported devices. So it is clear that these features will be available on Oppo and OnePlus devices in China, but nothing is confirmed if they will make it to the global market.
The most notable AI features include AI Deletion and AI Call Summary. These features are self-explanatory. AI Deletion is similar to Google’s Pixel phone’s Magic Eraser and Samsung Galaxy’s Object Eraser. It helps users to remove unwanted objects and people from images.
Then there’s AI Call Summary, which is designed to simplify phone calls. The feature can intelligently listen to users’ phone calls to analyze, transcribe and highlight important points. AI Call Summary can also generate reminders and to-do lists based on phone call conversations. After the call ends, users only need to tap on the status bar to see a call summary with a time stamp.
China’s ColorOS software is also adding multiple AI features to Oppo’s voice assistant, Xiabou. Jiabou voice assistant has become more realistic with advanced generative AI-supported speech capabilities after the update. Oppo has added new skills to the voice assistant to perform simple tasks as well as complex tasks.
The New Year edition of ColorOS also brings AI greeting cards feature to create custom New Year cards with templates and suggestions for Chinese New Year. Another notable feature of the new update is Photo Studio, which enables users to create celebratory photos by applying New Year-themed filters and templates to photos.
