Great camera but outdated processor, may disappoint OnePlus Nord CE 4 Lite

OnePlus' much-awaited affordable smartphone, OnePlus Nord CE 4 Lite 5G, is all set to hit the market next week. It is expected to feature several upgrades over the previous generation model, including the new Sony image process. But now a source has revealed that the phone will be powered by a rather old processor from Qualcomm.

OnePlus has confirmed that it will launch the OnePlus Nord CE 4 Lite 5G smartphone in India on June 24. The much-anticipated successor to the Nord CE 3 Lite 5G handset, which was released in April last year, has already been heavily speculated, as the brand has confirmed that it will feature a 50-megapixel Sony LYT-600 primary camera, a major upgrade over its current camera hardware. But now a tipster has revealed disappointing news about the processor used in the upcoming OnePlus Nord CE 4 Lite 5G phone. Let's find out which chipset this affordable OnePlus smartphone will have.

OnePlus Nord CE 4 Lite 5G comes with Qualcomm's three-year-old processor

According to the list of specifications shared by tipster Pars Googlani's X (ex-Twitter) post, the OnePlus Nord CE 4 Lite 5G phone will launch with a Snapdragon 695 processor. Notably, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 695 chipset is a 6 nanometer-based processor, which was officially launched in October 2021. This chip has been used in many budget-midrange 5G smartphones over the past few years. It even appeared on the OnePlus Nord CE3 Lite 5G phone

But the news is disappointing but not surprising, as it was already known that the OnePlus Nord CE4 Lite 5G will be a rebranded version of the Oppo K12X phone, which has the same processor. OnePlus is believed to have tried to cut costs by using an older processor rather than opting for a chip like the new mid-range Qualcomm Snapdragon 6S Gen 3 to keep the handset priced in the sub-Rs 20,000 range.

Besides, the OnePlus Nord CE 4 Lite 5G phone is said to have a new Sony LYT-600 primary sensor and a 6.67-inch AMOLED display with 120 Hz refresh rate, 2,100 nits peak brightness and FullHD+ resolution. Again, it is heard that the brand plans to replace the side-mounted fingerprint sensor on this handset with an in-display sensor.

For power backup, the battery capacity of the OnePlus Nord CE 4 Lite 5G handset is confirmed to increase from 5,000 mAh to 5,500 mAh. As the Oppo K12x supports 80W fast charging, the charging speed is expected to be upgraded to 80W from its predecessor's 67W. All these specifications combine to make the upcoming OnePlus Nord CE 4 Lite 5G an impressive device, despite the older processor. Now let's see how Sony's new LYT-600 sensor performs paired with the Snapdragon 695 chip.
