Today Google made a big announcement before the launch of Pixel 9 (Pixel 9) series. According to the American tech giant, they have made the first batch of Pixel 8 (Pixel 8) smartphones in India. The Made-in-India mobile phone is now ready for use by the countrymen. Google will start shipping them to various stores very soon. In October last year, Google first announced the production of phones in India.
“Excited to roll out our first Made in India Pixel 8 device off the production line,” Google wrote in their X (formerly Twitter) post. They thanked the country's Information and Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnab for the cooperation.
Incidentally, the latest smartphone brand to take advantage of the Production Based Financing (PLI) scheme is Google. Over the past few years, Apple, Samsung, Xiaomi, Vivo, Oppo and OnePlus have been assembling phones in India. According to a tech portal report, the company's global manufacturing partner Compal has teamed up with India's Dixon Technology to manufacture the Pixel 8 model, although Google hasn't said so.
Currently, Google imports all Pixel 8 series smartphones from China and Vietnam. High custom duties cost more to buy their phones. However, that picture is expected to change in the next few years when production starts in full swing in India. Once again, the Google Pixel 9 series will be revealed at an event tonight.
