Free days are over! You have to pay extra money to use these features on the phone

One of the highlights of the flagship Samsung Galaxy S24 series smartphones, which entered the global market earlier this year, is the collection of advanced features based on Artificial Intelligence (AI). These new AI features improve the user experience as well as make smartphone usage more convenient. However, users of the Galaxy S24 lineup will now have to pay to use some of these features. Recent reports claim that the S24 series phones will soon have to pay separately for some AI functions. Samsung-authorized Experience Stores in China have also received a similar notification. It has been mentioned that charging for AI features jointly developed with WPS will start from July 30.

Samsung Galaxy S24 series WPS AI features are no longer free

Users who purchase a Samsung Galaxy S24 on July 30 and login to WSPS can get 180 WSPS AI rights for free, valid for seven days. But after July 30, users will need to subscribe to continue using these AI functions. For this one has to spend 118 yuan (about Rs. 1,365) per year or subscribe for 15 yuan (about Rs. 175) per month.

For AI functions, the collaboration between Samsung and WPS has introduced this new charging model, which signals a change in monetization methods. Galaxy AI features on the Samsung Galaxy S24 series designed to enhance the user experience include AI-powered input, translation, recording, note-taking and camera functionality.

Besides, Samsung has introduced the newly upgraded Note Assistant in its Samsung Note, which enhances the productivity and convenience of the users. This feature enables content translation, correction, summarization and intelligent typesetting. In addition, real-time speech-to-text transcription, multi-lingual translation and speaker differentiation capabilities are integrated into device-side AI. Core Galaxy AI features like Live Translate have yet to make their way into the subscription-based AI service. Whether Samsung decides to charge for server-side Galaxy AI features in the future remains to be seen.
