OnePlus 12 was launched in India not long ago. Being the flagship model of the company, it has many interesting features like periscope camera, wireless charging, aqua touch technology. A popular tech YouTuber has now released a video testing the durability of this smartphone. While the OnePlus 10 Pro, 10T and OnePlus 11 had poor build quality, the OnePlus 12 showed a strong build in that test.
The OnePlus 12 has the company’s Aqua Touch technology, which allows you to touch the phone’s screen even with wet hands. So YouTuber Jack Nelson, known as JerryRigEverything, began testing the usability of the OnePlus 12 by spraying water on the screen twice before performing the durability test. For comparison, he also took the iPhone 15 Pro and the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra. Jack types a sentence using each letter of the alphabet on three devices. He used swipe text and normal predictive suggestions. As can be seen, the Aqua Touch technology has worked quite well on the OnePlus 12. In this regard, the Galaxy S24 Ultra also showed good results.
However, the iPhone 15 Pro completely failed the wet touch test. The YouTuber was unable to type a single word with the swipe gesture. Also, the phone registered the wrong input by selecting the letter ‘H’ instead of deleting it. This test warns iPhone 15 Pro users and even other iPhone users that their phones are unusable when wet.
As for the scratch test, Jack started scratching the Gorilla Glass Victus 2 shielded display on the OnePlus 12. As usual, it gets scratched at level 6 and deep scratches are visible on the screen at level 7. While the aluminum frame of the phone was scratched in the scratch test, the textured glass back panel remained intact. The camera sensors are also protected with a thick glass, so users don’t have to worry about the lens getting dirty. However, the YouTuber also added that there is a chance that the cameras could be destroyed in an accidental hit. The OnePlus 12’s optical fingerprint scanner works flawlessly even after rough use.
Finally coming to the toughest part of the durability test i.e. the bend test, Jack first tried to bend the OnePlus 12 from the back and it showed a slight flex. However, from the front, the device is slightly curved towards its camera module and antenna. But thankfully the device didn’t suffer the same fate as its predecessor, passing the bend test without any catastrophic damage.
