Finland-based smartphone maker HMD Global has been manufacturing Nokia-branded smartphones for years. But recently the company removed the Nokia name from all their social media handles. Although it sounds like they haven’t completely severed their ties with the Nokia brand, HMD has largely focused on launching their own branded smartphones. And now they have applied to the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) for a patent for the upcoming HMD (Human Mobile Device) branded smartphone. The brand has secured four design patents for the upcoming HMD-branded smartphone. Let’s find out about this in detail.
The patented design of the HMD-branded smartphone has arrived
A new report from IT Home states that HMD has applied for more than 642 patent designs for smartphone chargers. HMD is rumored to launch an eco-friendly smartphone. Now the patent design reveals that HMD will launch their upcoming smartphones in Grey, Blue, Green and Pink shades.
The rear panel of the phone is likely to feature a rectangular camera module, which will house a dual rear camera setup with an LED flash. The patent design indicates that the phone’s power button will be used as a fingerprint scanner and will be placed on the right side of the device along with the volume rockers. The images also showed some of the equipment attached to the device, but the details of those are unknown at the moment. The database of the European Union Intellectual Property Office also did not reveal any other specifications of the upcoming device.
Let us know that HMD has already confirmed to launch a repairable smartphone in July. Apart from this, the Finnish brand also plans to launch a clamshell Barbie foldable smartphone in May. Teasers shared by the brand confirm that HMD will include a 108-megapixel primary camera on the upcoming repairable smartphone. The repairable smartphone is also rumored to debut with Fusion or Legend branding.
Note that several upcoming HMD smartphones named Legend and Legend Pro have already been spotted on the Geekbench benchmarking platform. The Geekbench database revealed that the UNISOC T606 processor will be used in these upcoming devices. The chipset will be paired with up to 8GB of RAM and the phone is also said to run on Android 14 OS. HMD said that the back panel of the phones will be made of polycarbonate. Besides, it has also been confirmed that only a few steps are required to replace the smartphone screen.
