Nothing's sub-brand CMF is popular for its affordable wearables, including TWS earphones, smartwatches and neckbands. However, the company is now believed to be stepping into the smartphone market as well. Several reports claim that the smartphone will be named CMF Phone 1 following the naming convention of Nothing. A report also revealed that this CMF brand handset will be a rebranded version of the latest Nothing Phone 2a phone. Let's find out what CMF Phone 1 has to offer.
CMF Phone 1 may launch soon
While the potential CMF Phone 1 handset may feature similar internals to the Nothing Phone 2A handset, some leaked renders have indicated that the phone will look a lot like the Apple iPhone SE model. The back of the phone features a single camera setup and pop orange casing. However, it doesn't seem that the transparent design of the Nothing Phone 2A will be seen in the CMF Phone 1 model as well.
Recently, Nothing teased a part of the rear panel of the upcoming phone, which included a circular sliding button. There has been a lot of speculation about it so far, but since the teaser doesn't show the company's signature transparent back panel, it looks like a nothing phone. Again, the Action button, which Nothing's co-founder and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Carl Pei teased, will probably be on the phone's landscape edge like the other buttons. It is speculated that these images actually show the CMF Phone 1 model and the sliding button is likely to be a trigger button to open the removable back panel of the device. However, these data are based on assumptions for now. If CMF releases more details about the upcoming device in the coming days, the full idea will be available.
Incidentally, Nothing's co-founder and marketing head Akis Evangelidis also hinted at the arrival of the new phone on social media. However, no teaser for the CMF Phone 1 handset has been shared yet from any of the CMF brand's social media handles.
CMF Phone 1: Specifications (probable)
The CMF Phone 1 handset is expected to run on the MediaTek Dimensity 5G chipset and include a 5,000mAh battery and 33W fast charging. The phone will run on Nothing OS custom skin.
But if the CMF Phone 1 is indeed a rebranded version of the Nothing Phone 2a handset, it could come with a MediaTek Dimensity 7200 Pro chipset, up to 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. The phone is expected to feature a 6.7-inch flexible AMOLED display with a refresh rate of up to 120 Hz and a peak brightness of 1,300 nits. Notably, the price of the CMF Phone 1 handset is expected to be below Rs 15,000, while the Nothing Phone 2a is priced slightly above Rs 20,000.
