After Vivo launched its flagship Vivo X90 smartphone series in the Chinese market last November, it brought devices from this lineup to the global market in February this year. But even before this series hit the market, several reports about its next-generation lineup have started surfacing within a few months. The upcoming Vivo X100 series is expected to include the standard X100, X100 Pro and X100 Pro+ models just like its predecessor. While the standard and Pro versions will hit the market later this year, the top-end ‘Pro+’ model is rumored to launch sometime next year. But before that now, a tipster has claimed that the camera setup of the Vivo X100 series will come with a significant upgrade and will also feature a periscope zoom lens.
Vivo X100 series will see a special improvement in the camera department
The tech community is divided into two sections regarding the Vivo X100 series. One party claims that the X100 will not have a periscope lens. But others strongly believe that the series will indeed include a periscope camera. And since Vivo has been offering a periscope telephoto lens on its flagship phones since the launch of the Vivo X70 Pro series in 2021, it makes no sense not to use it in the X100 lineup.
According to recent reports, the Vivo X100 may feature a 1/14x-inch primary sensor from the Sony IMX9 series, a 12-megapixel Sony IMX663 ultra-wide lens, and a 64-megapixel Omnivision OV64B telephoto lens. The main camera will be an improved model of the IMX866 sensor. On the other hand, the X100 Pro is said to feature a 1-inch primary camera, a new periscope zoom camera and a 12-megapixel IMX663 ultra-wide lens.
Also, the Vivo X100 and X100 Pro models are said to be powered by the MediaTek Dimension 9300 chipset. Both the smartphones are expected to debut in China next November. However, the X100 Pro+ is likely to launch in the first quarter of next year.
