Xiaomi has rolled out the latest MIUI 14 skin to most of its eligible devices. However, not all of these updates are based on Android 13. Some of the popular Xiaomi smartphones are still powered by Android 12 OS as the operating system, even though they have the latest version of MIUI. Before sending the Android 13 update to these handsets, this time, Xiaomi has announced the next Android 14-based MIUI Beta version for its three popular flagships.
Xiaomi 12T, Xiaomi 13 and 13 Pro will get Android 14 OS update
As per Xiaomi’s announcement, the company is now looking for beta testers to try out the new version of MIUI based on Android 14. They have decided to give primary access to the new software to users of the three flagship handsets – Xiaomi 13, Xiaomi 13 Pro, and Xiaomi 12T. However, many may be surprised to see that Xiaomi hasn’t included their latest ultra flagship, the Xiaomi 13 Ultra, in this list. Notably, the Xiaomi 12 Pro model has also been left out of the Android 14-based MIUI beta update list for now.
Currently, Xiaomi is recruiting beta testers for the MIUI 14.1 update, which is expected to be released in stable form later this year. The company will select only 2,000 users for each of the mentioned devices and the beta version testers will be selected on a ‘first come first serve’ basis. Xiaomi said that beta testers can feel free to seek help from their local Xiaomi service center if their devices don’t turn on after the update.
Most importantly, the company will only accept applications from users of devices running Global ROM. Users of other versions like European and Indian builds will have to wait. Users can check the ‘About Phone’ section in Settings to confirm their phone’s version It is believed that, like MIUI 14, the upcoming MIUI 15 will also be based on the new and old versions of Android i.e., Android 13 and Android 14. Recently, an alpha build of the software was spotted on Xiaomi’s servers, indicating that its development is progressing rapidly.
