Indore-based company Wings EV is adding a new category of vehicle to the Indian automobile market. They are about to launch the country's first 'electric microcar', named Robin. It is a two seater electric car. It is designed to run as fast and easy as a bike. It is going to be the cheapest four-wheeler EV in India. Father-son-founded Wings EV will unveil the vehicle in April 2025 in Bengaluru.

The company's CEO and co-founder Pranab Dandekar said, “Their electric microcar will aim at personal transportation in a pollution-free way, with less congestion and minimal road use.” A graduate from Stanford University and a PhD in Computer Science, adds Pranab, Robin has already passed all safety tests by ARAI Pune.

Wings EV claims to be safer than any two-wheeler and three-wheeler in the market. The car has been targeted to sell 3,000 units in the first year. The company's Indore plant has an annual vehicle manufacturing capacity of 10,000 units. The company is planning to start delivery from April next year. After Bengaluru, the Punchke electric car will be launched in Chennai, Hyderabad, Pune. Then initiatives will be taken to make it available across the country.

The Wings EV Robin is said to come in three variants. The non-AC model with a range of 65 km will be priced at Rs 2 lakh. The mid-variant with fan and 90 km range will cost Rs 2.5 lakh. And with 90 km range, AC, patented audio alert system, and advanced safety, the high-end model will be priced at Rs 3 lakh. Remember, these are ex-showroom prices.
