Companies are fiercely competing with each other to capture the EV two-wheeler market in India. There are mainly three names in the race to be first in terms of sales – Ola Electric, Bajaj Auto, and TVS. Also, new electric scooters from various companies are being launched. Let's see which company's e-scooter sold the most in India in April.
India's top EV brand Ola Electric again in April
According to Federation of Automobile Dealers Association (FADA) statistics, EV sales fell to 65,111 units last month, compared to 66,873 sold in April last year. As in other months, Ola has been named the country's best selling e-scooter brand in April as well. They sold 33,963 electric scooters last month. Which is 53.90 percent more than the same period of the previous year.
TVS Motor Company
TVS Motor Company (TVS Motor Company) occupied the second position in the list of electric scooter sales in the previous month. They sold 7,675 electric models in April. This year the demand has contracted by 12.37 percent compared to 8,758 units sold in April last year. Again in March this year they sold 26,501 units. Compared to that, the sales in April decreased by 71.04%.
Bajaj Auto
Bajaj Auto is currently India's third largest electric two wheeler manufacturer in terms of sales. The company sold 7,529 Chetak e-scooters in April. Comparatively, the sales figure for the same period last year was 4,093 units.
Ather Energy and Greaves Electric Mobility
The fourth and fifth place in the list is occupied by brand Ampere under Ather Energy and Greaves Electric Mobility respectively. In April this year, the two companies sold 4,062 and 2,511 units of e-scooters respectively. Notably, Ether sold 7,802 units in April 2023, resulting in a 47.94 percent decline in demand last month. However, in the case of ampere, the sales have increased by 355.72% compared to April last year.
