Electric Car: The company claims 230 km, but how much in reality? You will be surprised to hear the real mileage of electric cars

MG Comet EV was launched as the cheapest electric car in India. The company claims that this country’s smallest EV will provide a range of 230 km in Eco mode on a full charge. But recently Autocar India conducted a test to know the actual mileage of the car. Which brought surprising information. It is known that the difference between the company’s claim and the actual range is about 37 km.

The practical range of MG Comet EV is 193 km

Tested by Autocar India, the MG Comet EV has shown an efficiency of 11.17 km per kWh in Eco mode. Where its 17.3 kWh LPF battery has a range of 193 km. The Comet EV’s top speed was limited to 81 km/h in Eco mode.

Normal and Sports modes are available on the MG Comet EV without Eco. The top speed of the car in sports mode is 101 km per hour. However, the range in all these modes is less than that of the Eco. The multi-information display in front of the driver shows how many kilometers can be traveled on the remaining charge in the battery. It shows a potential range of 200 km on a full charge.

Incidentally, MG Comet EV rivals Tata Tiago EV and Citroen eC3 in the Indian market. While Comet EV has an efficiency of 11.71 km/kWh, it is 7.77 km/kWh and 7.8 km/kWh for Tiago EV and eC3 respectively. So in this case the car can be said to be ahead of its rivals.
