Oben Electric has started delivery of its flagship electric motorcycle in India. The Bangalore-based company has handed over the keys to 25 Oben Rorr e-bikes to buyers. This electric bike is being manufactured at the company’s Jigani factory in Bangalore. Its current market price is Rs 1.5 lakh (ex-showroom).
Delivery of Oben Rorr has started
The Oben Rorr is claimed to be able to accelerate from 0-40 km/h in just 3 seconds. Its maximum speed is 100 km per hour. It is capable of providing a range of 187 kilometers on a full charge, Oben said. It features a 4.4 kWh battery pack and an 8 kWh IPMSM electric motor. It will take about two hours to fully charge.
The company is offering three free servicings for the first year of purchase of the electric bike. Which is claimed to be a segment first. 50,000 km/ 3 years (whichever is earlier) warranty extendable up to 5 years or 75,000 km. Again, the e-bike has a 3-year warranty on the motor. Customers also get free roadside assistance, and charging facilities at over 12,000 charging stations across the country.
From May this year, Oben started selling the battery powered motorcycle Rorr from their first experience center HSR Layout in Bangalore. The company claims that the specialty of this model is that it is better than the 150cc petrol bike in terms of performance. Again it comes packed with fresh design and smart features. Maintenance cost is also claimed to be low.
The company said it has already received 21,000 advance bookings. Plans have been taken to open new showrooms and service centers in every state and city of the country in the future. Oben is also looking to increase its workforce over the next few months.
