BYD Seal: Tesla also understands! The 700 km range car is finally coming to India, bookings open

The electric vehicle market in India is expanding rapidly. The companies are determined to surprise the customers by bringing the latest models. This time, China’s ace in the global market, Build Your Dreams or BYD (BYD) is going to bring its new electric sedan, which is called – BYD Seal. It will be the company’s third EV model after Atto 3 SUV and e6 MPV.

According to sources, BYD’s new EV sedan model will be launched in early March. Some of the company’s dealers have already started unofficial bookings for Seal. The model was also seen testing again on the roads of Chennai. Notably, the Seal EV was first showcased at India’s Auto Expo 2023 last year.

BYD Seal: Features and Tech

Key features on the BYD Seal include a 15.6-inch infotainment display, which is also present on the Atto 3 SUV e6 MPV. There is also a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and head-up display. The floating touchscreen is covered by the central AC vents, the center console houses the basic controls. It gets a heated windscreen, audio system for volume control and two wireless charging pads. The cabin is given a touch of gloss black to match the dashboard shade. Speaker controls are also present.

BYD Seal : Powertrain and Range

The BYD Seal is available in two battery options in the international market – a 61.4 kWh unit, which gives a range of 500 km, and an 82.5 kWh battery, which gives a range of 700 km. The large and small battery versions can be charged at 110kW and 150kW respectively.

Again this car is available in two powertrain options – single motor and dual motor. The first is available in two battery options, while the second model is only available in the larger battery version. Sources claim that the Indian version of the car will have a dual motor and all wheel drive powertrain setup. Both the motors will produce 530 hp of power. It can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 3.8 seconds. That means this car is more powerful than Hyundai Ioniq 5 and Kia EV6.

BYD Seal: When will it be launched in India?

A few BYD dealers in the country have already started accepting bookings for the seal. All unofficial. Deliveries of the car are expected to begin after the launch. The company will announce its price then. However, we estimate this luxury car to be priced around Rs 50 lakhs.
