Build your dreams or BYD's (BYD) electric sedan BYD Seal entered the country last March. The world's number one electric car maker has crossed 1,000 bookings for this model in about three months. Which is really surprising considering the price. On top of that, BYD is a Chinese company. As a result, buyers are interested in the car knowingly. And there are many reasons for that.
BYD Seal car bookings cross 1,000 in India
BYD Seal is the company's third electric car sold in the country. It was launched in early March. The remaining two EV models are – BYD e6 MPV and BYD Atto 3 SUV. According to the company, Seal crossed 200 bookings on the day of launch. So there is enough understanding about the demand. And within 2 months, the company reported getting more than 1,000 bookings.
In this regard, BYD India Senior Vice President Sanjay Gopalakrishnan said, “This achievement bears testimony to our bringing world-class technology to Indian customers. It is not only technologically advanced but also quite competitive in terms of price. We are confident that the BYD Seal can be a game-changer thanks to its award-winning technology, exceptional range and excellent safety features.”
Incidentally, the price of BYD Seal in India has increased from Tk 41 lakh to Tk 53 lakh (ex-showroom). It is available in a total of three variants – Dynamic, Premium and Performance. The top end model is claimed to offer performance equivalent to a sports car. Accelerates from 0-100 km/h in 3.8 seconds. The Seal's electric motor will produce 522.99 bhp and 360 Nm of torque. The mid-spec version of the car has a range of 650 km.
