Consumer love for premium motorcycles in India is increasing day by day. After 350 cc, buyers are now looking at bikes with bigger engines. Seeing this, Royal Enfield has planned to launch two new motorcycles of 450 cc and 650 cc. The first model may appear as Roadster 450 or Scram 450. Again the 650 cc bike may be named Scrambler 650 or Interceptor Bear 650. However, no confirmation has been received from the company regarding the naming yet. The company has already started testing this pair of bikes. Several times the image was caught on camera.
Royal Enfield is testing the Scram 450 and Scrambler 650
The Roadster/Scram 450 combines classic style with modernity. This is the road-going version of the Himalayan 450. It features sleek LED round headlights, a beefy fuel tank, and a Himalayan-like tail section. These elements give the bike a sporty look. There will be all LED lighting and a potential circular TFT display.
This bike will ride on 17 inch alloy wheels, telescopic plant fork and preload adjustable monoshock suspension. As a powertrain, the Roadster/Scram 450 has the Sherpa engine of the Himalayan 450. The liquid cooled single cylinder motor produces a maximum power of 39.5 bhp and 40 Nm of torque. This bike will give pace to Yezdi Scrambler and Honda CB350 RS.
On the other hand, the model named Scrambler 650 or Interceptor Bear 650 is largely inspired by the Interceptor 650 in terms of design. This rugged looking motorbike features a single piece seat, spoke wheels, and round headlights. To contrast with the Interceptor 650, the seat padding is thicker. There are also rounded taillights and longer handlebars.
Powering the wheels, the motorcycle will run on a 648cc parallel twin engine like the rest of the 650cc lineup. It produces 47 bhp of power and 52 Nm of torque. USD front fork and twin non gas charge shocks will give smooth riding. Its competitors in the market are Benelli Leoncino 500 and Moto Morini Seiemmezzo 650.
Royal Enfield is yet to reveal the timing of the launch of the above two motorcycles. Looking at the test model, it is assumed that the company will soon go into production. Speculations are rife that the Scram 450 model will be priced at Rs 2.4 lakh (ex-showroom). Whereas the Scrambler 650 is estimated to cost around Rs 4 lakh (ex-showroom).
