BSNL continues to keep pace with other telecom companies, recently rolling out 4G network to remote areas at a height of 14,000 feet.
As we all know, even though there are currently four telecom operators in India, BSNL is at the bottom of the list, constantly losing customers. However, BSNL's subscriber base naturally increased as the rest of the telcos hiked tariffs in July. And in order to come back to this competition, the company has started a vigorous effort to strengthen their network and reach their network all over the country. Currently, this state-owned telecom company is extending its network to areas of the country where other telcos are yet to reach. And the central government is playing an important role in this work.
Recently Union Communications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia said that BSNL has already installed more than 35,000 4G towers. And they plan to install another 1 lakh towers by June next year.
Recently the Department of Telecommunication i.e. DoT confirmed that the company has extended its 4G network from Malapu in Arunachal Pradesh to Phobrong in Ladakh, located at an altitude of 14,500 feet above the plains.
The DoT also said that the state-owned company has brought 4G network to Nabi, a village in India that had no telecommunication facilities till now. And because of BSNL, the residents of this village in Uttarakhand will get the opportunity to use mobile connection for the first time.
BSNL is currently able to cover 98 percent of India's network. Also, they are looking to expand 4G services very quickly. Because, they have planned to launch their 5G upgradeable 4G network services all over the country by next year. And, for this, the Government of India has also provided a financial assistance of Rs 6,000 crore to the organization. So the government is hoping that BSNL will be able to compete directly with the private telecom companies this time.
