BMW or KTM? If you buy a bike from any company at a low price, you will benefit from all sides

Recently, BMW Motorrad has unveiled the new generation version of its street fighter G 310 R in the international market. No changes have been made in the technical aspect of the bike. Newly, only two paint schemes have been added to it – Sport (with Racing Blue metallic shade) and Passion (with Granite Gray metallic colour). One of its competitors in the Indian market is the KTM 390 Duke. Now the issue is who is ahead of the two motorcycles in the competition? Let’s find out.

The KTM 390 Duke is more visually appealing

The BMW G 310 R features a muscular 11-litre fuel tank, LED headlights, wide handlebars, stepped-up seats, side-mounted exhaust, sleek LED taillamps and digital instrument cluster.

While the KTM 390 Duke gets to enhance its looks – 13.4-litre fuel tank, angular LED headlights with DRLs, split style seats, a slim LED taillamp and full color TFT instrument cluster. Both motorcycles ride on 17-inch alloy wheels.

The BMW G 310 R is light in weight

The BMW G 310 R weighs 158 kg. Its seat height from the ground is 785 mm and ground clearance is 165 mm. On the other hand, the carb weight of KTM 390 Duke is 171 kg. The bike has a saddle height of 822 mm and ground clearance of 151 mm.

To protect the rider, BMW G 310 R and KTM 390 Duke – both motorcycles come with dual channel ABS and two-wheel disc brakes. The second model has ABS cornering function as an additional feature. Both Streetfighter models feature inverted forks at the front and preload adjustable monoshock at the rear to handle the suspension duties.

390 Duke’s engine is more powerful

Propelling the wheels of the BMW G 310 R is a 313 cc, fuel injected, liquid cooled, reverse inclined engine. Which will produce 33.5 HP of power and 28 Nm of torque. Whereas the KTM 390 Duke has a 373 cc, liquid cooled, single cylinder, DOHC motor. It produces 43 HP of power and 37 Nm of peak torque. Both motorcycles are offered with a 6-speed gearbox as a transmission.

Which one you buy will be profitable

KTM 390 Duke in India costs Rs 2.96 lakh (ex-showroom). Meanwhile, the 2024 BMW G 310 R may be priced slightly higher than the current model. The current market price of the bike is Rs 2.8 lakh (ex-showroom). According to our advice, the 390 Duke is worth buying for its aggressive styling, more powerful engine, cornering ABS system and full color TFT instrument cluster.
